| Sumario: | Based on information provided by a set of epistolary sources found in the archives of the Salesian congregation -which confront and, on occasions, deny institutional accounts-, the following work attempts to build a more complex vision of the experiences traversed by children and young people inside the Salesian boarding schools in Argentina, during the first decades of the 20th century. If amorevolezza, as a distinctive feature of the culture of care in the congregation, was intended to signify the love, benevolence, affection, gentleness and patience that the assistant should have towards the assisted person, the documentation shows that hidden forms of abuse and violence were also part of the daily life experienced by their students. |
