This series of sources have not been brought to the attention of social and law historians and we do believe they constitute a very useful tool to understand the functioning of the penitentiary system established in Spain during that period. Our aim is to bring this reach and great documentary body and the possibilities of cutting edge research involved to the attention of researchers. Este trabajo pretende dar breve cuenta de tres revistas penitenciarias publicadas durante la Restauración en España: Revista de Prisiones, Mundo Penal y Progreso Penitenciario. Esta serie de fuentes no han sido objeto de atención por parte de los historiadores sociales y del Derecho y creemos que constituyen una herramienta de suma utilidad para conocer el funcionamiento del sistema penitenciario establecido en España en el período indicado. El objetivo que nos proponemos es llamar la atención de los investigadores acerca de la riqueza y magnitud de este cuerpo documental y las posibilidades de novedosas investigaciones que trae aparejada.
