Sumario:This paper will review the first year of publication of Gazeta de Buenos Ayres in order to study the origins of the Public Library and the popular donations made to such institution, driven by Mariano Moreno in his dual role as founder of the Gazeta and Protector of the Library. It is possible to assume that Gazeta de Buenos Ayres is one of the most important testimonial documents from this period of history of Argentina. When an investigator venture into their pages finds that the record of the substantial initial legacy is intertwined with the search of the revolutionary of cultural significance. Thus, this document can be covered as a sign of a synthesis between the Library, understood symbolically as the cultural center of a new era, marked by the emancipation of the people, and the librarianship tasks assumed to erect and maintain an establishment of such features.
