Sumario:The purpose of this text is to present a collection of primary sources created by the Church during the period  of the New Spain ancient regime, specifically in Guadalajara, the capital of New Galicia Audience. This  exercise attempts to analyze the composition of the historical documents about female institutions that  protected women. And it seeks to understand nature, limits and scopes of those sources. The main intention  is to study the spaces that sheltered women in New Galicia, and to rescue their institutionalized tracks.  This implies addressing social and cultural history of these women. In doing so, it is necessary to consider  the status and the trajectory of the Historical Archive of the Archbishopric of Guadalajara; so, we could  organize the document types and ponder the historiographical state of research problems, such as the life  inside convents, colleges, beaterios and recogimientos of the New Galicia.
