Additionally, it is expected to demostrate that varied and numerous sources and archives are indispensable in order to achieve accurate conclussions on the issue, transcending the local and localist vission by which those publications have been characterized. El artículo que se propone para su publicación, partiendo de la explicación del estado de la cuestión en la que se encuentra el estudio sobre los cabildos indianos, intenta señalar la necesidad que existe de avanzar en la investigación y en la resolución de nuevos interrogantes historiográficos que han ido surgiendo en los últimos años. Asimismo, se pretende demostrar que son múltiples y variados los tipos de fuentes y de archivos que se hacen imprescindibles a la hora de llegar a conclusiones certeras sobre la temática, trascendiendo, además, la visión local y localista que ha caracterizado en muchos casos las publicaciones en este campo.
