However, there are still difficulties in accounting for the learning that takes place in these environments. The objective of this article is to analyze the learning opportunities that are generated in the distance course forums on academic writing aimed at university professors. A micro ethnographic research design and ethnographically based discourse analysis were used to analyze the participation in forums in the context of the workshop. The results show that it is possible to intentionally generate these learning opportunities in a distance course to collectively negotiate meanings, question ideas or previous experiences about academic writing. Numerosas investigaciones han analizado, a partir de diferentes aproximaciones metodológicas, los procesos de enseñanza-aprendizaje que ocurren en la educación a distancia, específicamente en los foros de discusión. Sin embargo, ante las dificultades para evidenciar los aprendizajes, surge la necesidad de explorar otras vías que permitan conocer las condiciones específicas en que estos aprendizajes pueden ocurrir. El objetivo de este artículo es analizar las oportunidades de aprendizaje que se generan en los foros de discusión de un curso a distancia de actualización docente sobre escritura académica dirigido a profesores universitarios. Se empleó un diseño de investigación microetnográfico y el análisis del discurso para analizar las participaciones en los foros en el contexto de un taller. Los resultados muestran que es posible generar intencionadamente oportunidades de aprendizaje en un curso a distancia para que los participantes negocien colectivamente significados y cuestionen ideas o experiencias previas sobre la escritura académica.
