Sumario:This paper shows the evolution of archaeozoological works in historical times carried out in Cuba since the institutionalization of Archaeology in the country. Studies at metropolitan areas like Havana, Camagüey and Santiago of Cuba are visualized. Emphasis is made on the northeastern region of the island for its very early historic rural contexts previous to Hispanic conquest. In these contexts, the presence of pig remains as an Old World species.
