Sumario:Our work analyzes the historical context of the community that lived around a rural chapel built in the nineteenth century, situated in Catamarca province Paclín Department. Around it a process of economic exploitation that has changed over the century and whose incidence affected the population occurred. It also tries to determine the reasons for the abandonment of the chapel and the role of religious orders in the rural life. Methodologically analysis was used published and unpublished documentation, as well as architectural and archaeological ruins studies and analysis of the material recovered in the excavations. As a result it was contextualized and made visible to the chapel as a structuring social factor of economic conditions, politics and changes that affected the rural population lived in relationship with her in the nineteenth century.
