| Sumario: | We are going to analyze the cultural formation processes that affected Mansión Seré from the period it functioned as a Clandestine Detention Centre (CCD) up the moment of its complete demolition (1978-1985). Since the destructive processes, we identify the influence of social practices in the creation material culture. The photographic record, the “claimed” objects, the excavation records and the oral memory made possible the interpretation of the cultural formation processes (PFC) that took place in the site. We can see through the results progressive destruction of the architectural structure, the new uses and meanings of this space during the dereliction period, the claiming of its major materials, the reuse of its walls as canvas for various graffities and the addition of foreign material. We stress the importance of PFC for interpretation of material culture wich enable us to have the complete history which is absent in other sources of information. |
