| Sumario: | This paper presents novel information on technological choices regarding lithic raw material and core exploitation in the proximity of the Avilés and Chico river confluence, in the steppe sector of Tierra del Fuego, Argentina. The techno-morphological analysis of the Avilés 3 archaeological site indicated a predominance of informal, non-depleted cores (N=16) of expeditive manufacture. As a conclusion, this work poses that human groups did not seek to maximize raw material. Instead, they applied an expeditive rock exploitation strategy, within a high-mobility scenario with an abundant distribution of easily obtainable raw materials. |
