Sumario:In this paper we present a preliminary techno-morphological characterization of the lithic materials and a general description of the archaeological assemblage recovered from Punta Florida site (Necochea, Buenos Aires Province). The site is located in the mobile dunes of the pampean coast. It exhibits some distinctive features compared to other assemblages from this area: its extension, a great number of lithic materials, a high proportion of raw materials from inland sources and the presence of pottery and grinding tools. In January 2012 a sector of the site was part of the Rally Dakar route and most of the assemblage was recovered during an archaeological rescue. We consider that Punta Florida exhibits a great potential to understand the differential use of the pampean coast by hunter-gatherers, at least during late Holocene times.
