| Sumario: | In this paper, I intend to assess whether any of the known expressions of valliserrano rock art can be assigned to primarily hunting societies or, at least, to the participants in this activity during the Formative stage. Keeping this objective in mind, I’ll develop several lines of research that seek to find, on one hand, non-iconic painted or engraved designs similar to those identified in circumpuneña sequences and, on the other hand, pictures that evoke themes related to the activity of the hunters, of their prey or their traces. In all cases the respective contexts were analyzed and the results were compared with the cultural stylistic sequences proposed for Northwestern Argentina. |
