| Sumario: | This work seeks to problematize aspects related to the labor shortage in the mineral of Famatina, La Rioja toward 1809. The analysis focuses on a visit made to the mining center in which there is a deep emphasis on the low number of workers of the mineral. We ask about the causes of this shortage, the mechanisms for attracting labor and the causes of its apparent inefficiency. We also analyzed who the workers were at that time and their motivations to work in mining; who were those who did not participate and for what reasons. |
