| Sumario: | Using Tafí del Valle as a case study, we discuss some practical facets of impact assessment studies in archaeology within the context of strong socioeconomic dynamics that is the result of interventions by governmental institutions, landowners and indigenous communities. We question offifi cial policies that encourage local tourism and appropriation of the cultural and natural heritage. Further we discuss the positioning and practice of professional archaeologists in dealing with the past and to heritage management as they are being interpellated by contemporary societies. |
