The Positivist program, the most visible one in the current literature, seeks to identify the universal causes and consequences of war on the assumption that it unfolds always according to the same rationality. As an alternative, we discuss a perspective that, putting emphasis on practice itself, takes into consideration the diverse cultural logics that govern organized hostility between collectives in different times and places.
