Sumario:New archaeofaunal information relevant to the study of variability and patterns of change during the Middle Holocene and early Late Holocene in the Puna of Salta is presented. The analyzed record comes from the Abrigo Pozo Cavado site, located on Pocitos salt flat, with dates between ca. 7200 and 2900 BP. The analyses focused on the changes related to the human food exploitation of camelids, especially from processes of intensification and domestication. The results obtained indicated variations and patterns of change as well as continuities in the use of these resources. Likewise, the comparison with evidence from other sites in the Argentinean Puna allowed us to make a contribution to the discussion of these processes on a macro-regional scale.
