Sumario:The war, in both construction and socialphenomenon, is no stranger to the frames ofsense of the community in which it develops.In Ancient Egypt the war, at the service of thestate apparatus, functioned as mechanisms oflegitimation of royal power. In this paper weanalyze that aspect from the Egyptianreligious worldview, taking into account thecategories of analysis developed by thehistorian of religions Mircea Eliade. We beginwith some general considerations about thewar and the concept of the foreign, to end thenwith an analysis of the “Poem of Pentaur”from the Battle of Kadesh.
