This work analyzes the psychometric properties of the Spanish version of the Early Child Behavior Questionnaire Very Short Form temperament test (ECBQ-VSF) in a sample of 401 infants (Mage = 27.05 months SD = 7.08) from Buenos Aires. The exploratory factor analysis showed a three-factor structure that explained 27% of the variance, with acceptable factorial weights of its items. The confirmatory factor analysis indicated that the fit of the proposed model was acceptable, following the original factor structure of three subscales. The reliability analysis indicated good internal consistency for this sample. In turn, this version showed expected results related to the correlations between the different sub-dimensions of the scale, and differences according to gender, socioeconomic level and age. Finally, factorial invariance was found regarding the gender of the infants. It is concluded that the differences found with respect to previous studies could be due to cultural characteristics. |
