description The Patio of Indio Froilán is a family house and cultural space in the city of Santiago del Estero opened to the public on Sundays that offers regional food, drinks, handicraft and musical shows. Dancing folk rhythms is a central activity there and the songs that sound and the words said on stage build images of the Patio related to province and nation. This article seeks to analyze the relationships between dances and images about the Patio, problematizing concepts such as “patio”, “pago” and nation. It is based on research carried out as a Master's thesis in Social Anthropology and uses the ethnographic method. This article emphasizes the importance of Santiago del Estero and Argentine identities in the construction of the Patio as a tourist space and folk dances as accessible to all.
