In the field of teaching English for Specific Purposes, automatic translators available on the Internet constitute new resources that allow for the dynamization of the traditional translation processes. In this context, an experience was conducted with students from cohort 2011 who attended the subject named “Technical English”, which is taught face to face in all the engineering careers at Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias Económico Sociales (FICES) of the Universidad Nacional de San Luis (UNSL). The purpose of this paper is to describe the experience in which the students used Google Automatic Translator (GAT) to translate, analyze and edit texts produced by such resource applying the knowledge acquired during the development of the subject. The conclusions reveal the pedagogical implications of using this technological tool in classes of English for Specific PurposesKeywords: a En el contexto mundial actual, se ha hecho imperiosa la necesidad de desarrollar habilidades nuevas y específicas para el manejo efectivo del idioma inglés, como así también de las herramientas tecnológicas que Internet ofrece. En el campo de la enseñanza de Inglés con Propósitos Específicos, los traductores automáticos disponibles en Internet son recursos nuevos que permiten dinamizar los procesos tradicionales de traducción. En este contexto, se realizó una experiencia con los alumnos de la cohorte 2011 de la asignatura Inglés Técnico que se dicta presencialmente para todas las carreras de Ingeniería de la Facultad de Ingeniería y Ciencias Económico-Sociales (FICES) de la Universidad Nacional de San Luis (UNSL). El objetivo de este trabajo es describir la experiencia en la que los mismos hicieron uso del Traductor Automático Google (TAG) para traducir, analizar y editar textos producidos por dicho recurso aplicando los conocimientos adquiridos durante el cursado de la asignatura. Las conclusiones revelan implicancias pedagógicas de usar esta herramienta tecnológica en clases de Inglés con Propósitos Específicos.
