description Since the configuration of capitalism under the modality of the economy of innovation and knowledge in the period of the seventies of the last century, the relationship between universities and capitalist enterprises has become a basic component of the knitting of social relations in contemporary society. The hypothesis of this work is that these university-business relationships have been one of the central factors in the development of new modes of generation, circulation and application of contemporary social knowledge, which has had a decisive impact on the evolution of the role of universities in society. This has operated under the tensions that are generated in these relations between the university and the business actor, due to the different determinants with which these actors assume the development of knowledge. But the most significant thing for our hypothesis is that this dynamic of knowledge in the relationship between universities and entrepreneurs together with the new technological revolutions has contributed to the general evolution of the role of knowledge in collective life, now characterized as “the knowledge society”. This is particularly significant in the current historical period that has been identified in the literature as “Change of time” for humanity. This is due to various phenomena of great social relevance among which we unleash the ongoing transition from the knowledge society to the digital society and sustainable development, in which universities must participate with knowledge proposals for the benefit of society as a whole.

Desde la configuración del capitalismo bajo la modalidad de la economía de la innovación y el conocimiento, en el período de los setenta del siglo pasado, la relación entre las universidades y las empresas capitalistas se han constituido en un componente básico del tejido de relaciones sociales en la sociedad contemporánea. La hipótesis de este trabajo es que estas relaciones universidad- empresa han sido uno de los factores centrales en el desarrollo de los nuevos modos de generación, circulación y aplicación del conocimiento social contemporáneo, lo que ha incidido de manera determinante en la evolución del rol de las universidades en la sociedad. Esto ha operado bajo las tensiones que se generan en estas relaciones entre el actor universitario y el empresarial, debido a los diferentes determinantes con que dichos actores asumen el desarrollo del conocimiento. Pero lo más significativo para nuestra hipótesis es que esta dinámica del conocimiento en la relación entre universidades y empresarios, junto con las nuevas revoluciones tecnológicas, ha contribuido a la evolución general del papel del conocimiento en la vida colectiva, caracterizada ahora como “la sociedad del conocimiento”. Ello es particularmente significativo en el actual período histórico que ha sido identificado en la literatura como de “Cambio de Época” para la humanidad. Esto debido a diversos fenómenos de gran relevancia social entre los que destacamos la transición en curso desde la sociedad del conocimiento hacia la sociedad digital y el desarrollo sostenible, en lo que universidades deben participar con propuestas de conocimiento en beneficio del conjunto de la sociedad. Desde a configuração do capitalismo baixo a modalidade da economia da inovação e o conhecimento no período dos anos 70 do século passado, a relação entre universidades e empresas capitalistas tornou se um componente básico do tecido das relações sociais na sociedade contemporânea. A hipótese deste trabalho é que essas relações universidade-negócios têm sido um dos fatores centrais no desenvolvimento de novos modos de geração, circulação e aplicação do conhecimento social contemporâneo, que tem tido impacto decisivo na evolução do papel das universidades na sociedade. Isso tem operado baixo as tensões geradas nessas relações entre a universidade e o ator de negócios, devido aos diferentes determinantes com que esses atores assumem o desenvolvimento do conhecimento. Mas o mais significativo para nossa hipótese é que essa dinâmica de conhecimento na relação entre universidades e empreendedores junto com as novas revoluções tecnológicas tem contribuído para a evolução geral do papel do conhecimento na vida coletiva, hoje caracterizado como “a sociedade do conhecimento”. Isso é particularmente significativo no período histórico atual que tem sido identificado na literatura como “mudança de tempo” para a humanidade. Isso se deve a diversos fenómenos de grande relevância social entre os quais desencadeamos a transição contínua da sociedade do conhecimento para a sociedade digital e o desenvolvimento sustentável, no qual as universidades devem participar com propostas de conhecimento em benefício da sociedade como um todo.
