Sumario:The article aims to interrogate the disease present in Mario Bellatin's Salón de belleza (1993) from a genealogical perspective, different from allegorical, thematic and biopolitical readings. Therefore, the namelessness disease presented in the novel —the aesthetics of the void that it supposes— is explored through a literary series that exposes the echo of the neo-baroque in Bellatin's work. Faced with this, the text proposes to question the way in which the Salón de belleza uses the neo-baroque as a strategic ally to establish a counterpoint against the rhetoric of AIDS and, in the same movement, distance itself from it, marking an aesthetic of differential emptiness.
