The aim of the article is to understand the role of botany in the university magazine between 1888 and 1897 as part of the publishing project for the dissemination of science at the end of the century. The different botanical practices that are published in The University are also recognized. The methodology is based on the study of scientific practices with an emphasis on botany, aimed at recognizing natural resources through specialized writings in periodicals. In the magazine, in addition to botany, geography, zoology, astronomy, chemistry and medicine were published. Entre 1888 y 1897 se publicaron nueve volúmenes de la revista salvadoreña La Universidad, los cuales abarcan su edición decimonónica. En este lapso se publicaron escritos relativos a la botánica que abordan temas terapéuticos, taxonómicos, culturales, económicos y microscópicos, de la autoría de universitarios salvadoreños y científicos extranjeros. El objetivo del artículo es comprender el papel de la botánica en las páginas de la revista universitaria entre 1888 y 1897 como parte del proyecto editorial de difusión de las ciencias al final de la centuria. También se reconocen las distintas prácticas botánicas que están reflejadas en La Universidad. La metodología se basa en el estudio de las prácticas científicas con énfasis en la botánica, orientadas al reconocimiento de los recursos naturales por medio de escritos especializados en publicaciones periódicas. En la revista, además de la botánica se publicaron temas de geografía, zoología, astronomía, química y medicina. Facultad de Filosofía y Humanidades.
