Within agroecological horticultural systems in northeast Argentina (NEA), the edafoclimatic contributions of fruit trees remains underexplored. Here we evaluate the performance of horticultural crops growing under the canopy of different fruit trees of northeastern Argentina.  M&M: Intercropping of four fruit trees, Aguay (Chrysophyllum gonocarpum), Guayabo (Psidium guajava), Ñangapirí (Eugenia uniflora) and Níspero (Erybotria japónica) were evaluated in combination with horticultural species of the autumn-winter season with different harvesting organs: parsley leaves (Petroselinum crispum), radish tuber (Raphanus sativus) and pea fruits (Pisum sativum). Available solar radiation determinations for each horticultural species, analysis of litter contribution, weed abundance, and horticultural performance in each fruit tree-horticultural crop combination was measured. Results: Aguay had a positive effect on the growth and development of the three horticultural species (radish, parsley and peas). The association with Guayabo was positive for parsley but negative for peas. Níspero had a positive effect on pea production; however, the association of Níspero is not recommendable for radish and parsley. The least recommended association for the three horticultural species was with Ñangapirí, for which no positive effects were obtained. Conclusions: The fruit trees Aguay, Guayabo and Níspero from northeastern Argentina represent important alternatives for the agroecological production of common horticultural crops such as radish, parsley and peas.  In contrast, Ñangapirí fruit tree is not recommended for these horticultural crops.

Introducción y objetivos: La Agroecología entiende que el manejo óptimo de los agroecosistemas depende del nivel de interacciones entre varios componentes bióticos y abióticos y entre estas, los policultivos son propuestas claves. Aquí evaluamos el comportamiento de especies hortícolas cultivadas debajo de diferentes árboles frutales del nordeste de Argentina. M&M: Se evaluó la consociación de cuatro frutales: Aguay (Chrysophyllum gonocarpum), Guayabo (Psidium guajava), Ñangapirí (Eugenia uniflora) y Níspero (Erybotria japónica), en combinación con especies hortícolas con diferentes órganos de aprovechamiento: hojas de Perejil (Petroselinum crispum), tubérculos del hipocótilo de Rabanito (Raphanus sativus) y frutos de Arveja (Pisum sativum). Se realizaron determinaciones de radiación disponible para las especies hortícolas, análisis del aporte de la hojarasca, abundancia de vegetación espontánea, rendimiento de las hortícolas en cada combinación.  Resultados: El Aguay tuvo un efecto positivo en el crecimiento y desarrollo de las tres especies hortícolas (Rabanito, Perejil y Arvejas). La consociación con Guayabo fue positiva para el Perejil pero negativa para las Arvejas. El Níspero tuvo un efecto positivo en la producción de Arvejas; sin embargo la consociación con éste no es recomendable para Rabanito o Perejil. La consociación menos recomendada para las tres especies hortícolas fue con Ñangapirí, en la cual no se obtuvieron efectos positivos. Conclusiones: Los árboles frutales Aguay, Guayabo y Níspero del noreste de Argentina representan alternativas importantes para la producción agroecológica de cultivos hortícolas comunes como el Rabanito, el Perejil y las Arvejas. En contraste, el árbol frutal Ñangapirí no se recomienda para estos cultivos hortícolas. Aqui, avaliamos o comportamento de espécies hortícolas cultivadas sob diferentes árvores frutíferas no nordeste da Argentina. M&M: Foi avaliada a consociação de quatro árvores frutíferas: Aguay (Chrysophyllum gonocarpum), Guayabo (Psidium guajava), Ñangapirí (Eugenia uniflora) e Níspero (Erybotria japónica), em combinação com espécies hortícolas com diferentes órgãos colhedores: folhas de salsa (Petroselinum) crispum), tubérculos do hipocótilo Rabanito (Raphanus sativus) e ervilha (Pisum sativum). Foram realizadas determinações da radiação disponível para espécies hortícolas, análise da contribuição da serapilheira, abundância de vegetação espontânea e rendimento hortícola em cada combinação. Resultados: Aguay teve um efeito positivo no crescimento e desenvolvimento das três espécies hortícolas (Rabanito, Salsa e Ervilhas). A consociação com Guayabo foi positiva para a salsa, mas negativa para as ervilhas. El Níspero teve um efeito positivo na produção de ervilhas; no entanto, consociação com ele não é recomendada para Rabanito ou Salsa. A consociação menos recomendada para as três espécies hortícolas foi com Ñangapirí, na qual não foram obtidos efeitos positivos. Conclusões: as árvores frutíferas Aguay, Guayabo e Níspero, no nordeste da Argentina, representam alternativas importantes para a produção agroecológica de culturas hortícolas comuns, como Rabanito, Salsa e Ervilha. Por outro lado, a árvore frutífera Ñangapirí não é recomendada para essas culturas hortícolas.
