Intervened in the debate on the need to construct a typology capable of allowing an objective interpretation of the Latin American scenario from a “field” or “block” of governments that mutually recognize their affinities while being recognized as a collective by actors external to them. Apart from all the differences between moderates / renovators on the one hand and radical refounders / nationalists on the other, it is possible to point out a variety of common traits throughout this set of political experiences. Among the relevantcharacteristics, we highlight six. Este artigo propõe uma análise dos diferentes governos do ciclo político progressista na América Latina recente, enfocando suas afinidades, diferenças e trajetórias políticas. Intervém no debate sobre a necessidade de construir uma tipologia capaz de permitir uma interpretação objetiva do cenário latino-americano a partir de um “campo” ou “bloco” de governos que reconhecem mutuamente suas afinidades, sendo ao mesmo tempo reconhecidos como um coletivo por atores exteriores a eles. À parte todas as diferenças entre moderados/renovadores, de um lado, e refundadores/nacionalistas radicais do outro, é possível assinalar uma variedade de traços comuns em todo esse conjunto de experiências políticas.
