Although, it could not make it, if as diagnosed the sanitarians authorities, the population was threatened by the high increase of children with hereditary diseases because their parents suffered ´venereal´ diseases. In this context, the eugenics doctrine appeared solutions: the implementation of a medical prenuptial certificate before the marriage that would allow detecting the presence of a disease and thus preventing the marriage between sick persons. By this, the objective of this paper is to analyze the debates around this certificate, stop in the three paradigmatic cases of the region: Brazil, Mexico and Peru, at the same time to study and to compare the relevance that the certificate had like a regional social policy.     Desde finales del Siglo XIX América Latina depositó su interés en alcanzar el progreso económico y social que sólo creía que podía garantizarlo copiando los modelos de potencias como Estados Unidos y los países europeos. Sin embargo, no podría realizarlo, si como diagnosticaban las autoridades sanitarias, la población estaba acechada por el crecimiento abrumador de niños con enfermedades hereditarias debido a que sus padres padecían enfermedades “venéreas”. En este contexto surgieron soluciones propuestas por la doctrina eugenésica: la implementación de un certificado médico prenupcial previo al matrimonio el cual permitiría detectar la presencia de enfermedad y así impedir el casamiento de personas enfermas. Por este motivo, nuestro objetivo es analizar los debates en torno al certificado, deteniéndonos en los tres casos paradigmáticos: Brasil, México y Perú, a la vez que realizando un análisis comparativo de la importancia que tuvo el certificado como política social regional.
