spelling I10-R10-article-118902019-12-12T19:59:47Z Theoretical Imagination and Policy Interventions Imaginación teórica e intervenciones políticas Restrepo, Eduardo geopolítica del conocimiento pesimismo del intelecto contextualismo geopolitics of knowledge pessimism of intellect contextualism In this article I examine different aspects of intellectual work and political practice, which question the simplistic idea that knowledge exists outside of (either prior or subsequent to) political practice.  Based on Bonaventura de Sousa Santos, the article emphasizes the situatedness of knowledge and as such, its ethical-political markings.  It has been assumed that this situatedness of intellectual work precludes an engagement with the political by some authors that work within what I call a hermeneutics of hope.  In response to this notion, I consider it essential to return to the gramscian suggestion to maintain a "pessimism of the intellect, [and an] optimism of the will" in order to trace the relationship between theoretical imagination and political interventions beyond the idealization and decontextualization that takes place in the name of privileged moral or epistemic subjects.  Thus, building on Foucault, Said, and Hall, I show the political relevance of producing specific and contextual theory that is capable of facing power. En este artículo examinaré diferentes aspectos de la labor intelectual y la práctica política, que cuestionan la noción simplista de que el conocimiento es un afuera (como anterioridad o posterioridad) de la práctica política. Basado en Boaventura de Sousa Santos, se enfatizará en la situacionalidad del conocimiento y, por tanto, sus inscripciones ético-políticas. Ahora bien, esta situacionalidad ha sido asumida como una clausura de la labor intelectual por lo político por algunos autores desde lo que llamo hermenéutica de la esperanza. Frente a esta concepción, considero indispensable elplanteamiento gramsciano de “pesimismo del intelecto, optimismo de la voluntad” para trazar las relaciones entre la imaginación teórica y las intervenciones políticas más allá de las idealizaciones y descontextuaciones en nombre de sujetos morales o epistémicos privilegiados. Así, desde las contribuciones de Foucault, Said y Hall, en este artículo se argumenta la relevancia para las intervenciones políticas de una labor teórica contextual y específica, que encare al poder.
