Sumario:Based on sedimentological features, the formation is divided in three lithofacies associations. The Corral Amarillo Formation was deposited in a small intramontane lake originated when gravity-flow diamictites dammed the Corral Amarillo river. A genetic model for the haematite and limonite formation is proposed. This model comprises three main phases: 1) limonite formation in the source area, 2) fluvial transport and 3) sedimentation of limonites in low-energy lake environments. -from English summary
