Sumario:A theoretical study on the interaction between photons and surface plasmons (SP) at the sinusoidally corrugated boundary between uniaxial crystal and metal, in conical mounting was presented. Propagations constants of SP were calculated for an interface between sodium nitrate and gold, for arbritary orientations of the grating grooves. Results showed that the distinctive properties associated with the excitation of SPs in the isotropic media, such as a strong absorption of energy by the metal were still present. Results indicated that for particular media parameters, the structure supports two normal modes, which can be both excited in conical mounting.
