| Sumario: | Este Dossier reúne dos textos de Juan Flores que abordan la tradición literaria niuyorriqueña y la poesía de Tato Laviera. En "Memorias (en lenguas) rotas", Flores retoma la metáfora de Arcadio Díaz Quiñoñes sobre la "memoria rota" puertorriqueña, y extiende este concepto hacia la cultura puertorriqueña exiliar en los Estados Unidos a través del concepto de "breaking memory", en alusión al poder disruptivo de la cultura niuyorriqueña. Por su parte, en "Tato(ao): la Poética del Eye Dialect", Flores aborda la poesía de Tato Laviera a partir del trabajo con el registro afro-caribeño y oral de dicha poesía. This Dossier brings together two texts written by Juan Flores about the nuyorican tradition and the poetry of Tato Laviera. In "Broken English Memories", Flores takes the metaphor used by Arcadio Díaz Quiñones on the Puerto Rican "broken memory", and extends this concept to the Puerto Rican exile culture in the United States through the concept of "breaking memory", in reference to the disruptive power of nuyorican culture. In "Tato's -ao: the Poetics of Eye Dialect," Flores tackles the poetry of Tato Laviera from the Afro-Caribbean and oral resonance of this poetry. |
