This textbook on spectroscopy is designed for use in physical chemistry courses, and, in particular, for the introductory physical chemistry course. Few texts on physical chemistry contain more than the briefest discussion of rotation and vibration-rotation spectra of diatomic molecules. For the latter, the approximation is usually made that the spectrum consists of a series of equispaced lines.
